You Are Playing Like Betty White!
Posted by Shan on February 8th, 2010 | No Comments
The Superbowl commercials were pretty good yesterday, lots of laughs, and I have to say that of all of them the Google commercial was my favorite. So simply done, but really cute. I teared up a tiny bit!
But the real scene stealer was Betty White out of left field with the Snickers commercial! You had to be at the start of the game as it was showed during one of the first commercial breaks.
I love Betty! Just in case you missed it…

Ting Tings recording album #2
Posted by Justin on February 8th, 2010 | No Comments
After their loss at the Grammys a few weeks ago, unperturbed Ting Tings are back in Berlin recording their follow up to the massively successful We Started Nothing. They posted on their Myspace on Friday about their progress:
We arrived back in Berlin today after a strange week in LA for the Grammy’s. I think we dealt with the red carpet OK, normally we try to avoid them at all costs, in fact I think we have managed to get away with doing about three in our lives ( : they are the antithesis of what we want to do with 4 hours of our life…….this probably makes us terrible *pop stars*- but we trotted along with the rest of them!It was good to be nominated and to people watch, and fun to navigate ourselves around Los Angeles for 2 days after but it was a joy to be back in Berlin with no more interruptions for our recordings. 7 songs along and it feels great to loose ourselves in ideas for writing, productions and stupid little videos. I’m going to try and keep you updated on our recordings and stupid little video’s whilst here.
We have time to think again and make sense of it all xx
Cheryl Cole, Parachute remixes
Posted by Justin on February 7th, 2010 | No Comments
The remixes for Parachute have come out and they are…unique.
The Buzz Junkies remixes are dancefloor killers, just heightening the drama of the original and standout as the best of the bunch (I loved their remix of Natalie Imbruglia’s Want). The Ill Blue remixes are a bit more merengue flavored with some blips and boops added in. However, the Self-Taught Beats Remix and the Euphonix Remix totally rework the song and I love when a remix does that. While Self-Taught Beats makes it more of a hip-hop affair, it doesn’t improve upon the original track with the chorus falling a bit flat – but the bridge is great with the beat behind it. The Euphonix remix changes the structure of the verses and chorus completely and adds some eery piano and the bridge brings in some synthy runs. It’s hard to get used to this one.
Since the Buzz Junkies is serving the web as the most popular version, I’ll opt for the Self-Taught Beats mix to let you taste. Check out the gorgeous video on our other post and check out her ‘live’ performance of the song after the cut.

Janet Jackson quote of the day
Posted by Justin on February 7th, 2010 | No Comments
From her new interview in Wonderland magazine, which came out on Friday in the UK. In it she talks about her new movie, her new book, her brother and who she likes in the music biz:
Are there other people you’re liking (in the music industry)?
I like Taylor Swift. I’m not sure why.
Hilarious.

Keri Hilson, I Like
Posted by Justin on February 7th, 2010 | No Comments
Keri Hilson was up for Best New Artists of the Year at this year’s Grammy Awards, but she didn’t win. Ho-hum. She’s been in the business for a while, in the background and such and just came out with her debut album in 2009. This track, I Like, does not appear on that album and I think is going to be included on a re-release of her album In A Perfect World. The song is tearing up the charts in Europe and was written and recorded for a German film. Manhattan Clique did a remix that is just ace -- get it after the jump. The video was to be equal parts Keri and footage from the film, but this version is total Keri.
Oh, that’s so Imogen

First of all, congratulations to Imogen Heap on her Grammy award for best engineered album – non-classical for Ellipse, the singer’s third full length album. That barely anybody heard.
After the success of Heap’s second album, Speak For Yourself, one couldn’t be surprised that it would be hard to top an album that pretty much was perfection from top to bottom. Who would have thought an electronic, a capella song could have become a breakthrough hit for an artist? Hide and Seek was just that. I mean, if you haven’t heard this song – you have been under a rock. This was followed by the songs Say Goodnight and Go and Headlock as well as several contributions to soundtracks and other themed albums.
But like so many artists, the curse of the third album seems to be more realistic than the curse of the second, especially when the second is just as popular, if not more than a debut. I mean look at Christina Aguilera and Kelly Clarkson – both had flop third albums compared to their prior success. Since Imogen created and produced Speak for Yourself all on her own, it seemed that she could repeat that formula and improve it on Ellipse.
That just wasn’t the case. Read the rest »
Sabrina Washington, Oh My Gosh

Um, mademoiselle, are those gold nips on your silver body suit? I think they are! Why does this remind me of Dannii Minogue? Apparently Sabrina Washington is ANOTHER UK artist who was the lead singer of the girl band Mis-teeq. Will they ever quit?
Jordan Sparks & David Archuleta – No Air

Jordan Sparks and David Archuleta dueting on “No Air” in Miami at the Superbowl. Amazing! I love David Archuleta, I think he’s majorly talented and sadly overlooked for the most part and I never get tired of this song.
Pixie Lott – Gravity Video

Check out the flawless video for Pixie Lott’s fourth single, “Gravity”.
Watch for the brunette scenes, familiar? Nomi Malone from Showgirls anyone? Specifically the leather/biker scene? Someone is either a fan, or completely oblivious to one of the best movies ever made.

I’ve said it before, but the song sounds a lot like Jordan Sparks’ “No Air”, but it is one of the stand outs on the album.
