Although I rock my iPod in the car with a radio transmitter, when I originally bought the car I was stoked it had a 6 disc in dash changer and a Mach audio system factory installed. Since the iPod boomed soon after I pretty much abandoned the cd player, but I do keep cds in it for when I’m just running a small errand or forget my iPod so I still have some jams. A few weeks ago I realized I was over all the cds I had in it, so I threw together an actual physical cd of some good jams from the past year or so. Thought I’d pass it along!
- Katy Perry - Hot ‘n Cold: I know I’m not supposed to like her but this song is beyond catchy. Like catchiest thing I’ve heard this summer. You instantly know the chorus after listening to the song just once. And I’ve heard reverbs through the blogosphere about this song and I will officially hate her if she doesn’t release it as a single. It’s dying for radio play.
- Imani Copolla - The World Should Revolve Around Me: I didn’t care much for the album but this is a good summer jam when you’re driving around in your car with the sunroof open.
- CSS - Rat is Dead (Rage): I have a love/hate relationship with CSS but this song is their best to date and even made me love some of their previous works. I feel like this song also is understable and relatable, everything off their first album just seemed jumbled and nonsensical.
- Peter Gabriel - Down to Earth: Just posted about this song a few days ago, it was a great one-off thing for me from the Wall-E soundtrack.
- Dannii Minogue - Come and Get It (Alt Radio Cut): I was so over the original but this new version relit my Dannii fire. Taken from her recent rehash “album” Unleashed.
- Boomkat - Here I Come: One of my favorite cuts from their new album. It’s got bass for days so it’s perfect for the system in my car, and is catchy as hell with lyrics like “Let me see that dirrty dance/ I know, I know you want inside my flirty pants.”
- The Knife - We Share Our Mother’s Health: If you haven’t heard this track, it’s a must. The intro is one of the most clever song intros I’ve ever heard. Seriously. It gives me chills every time I listen to it.
- Britney - Break the Ice: I didn’t like this song on the album, then I didn’t like the video. Then one day like a bolt of lightening I realized the complete awesomeness of the song and now it’s a must have when I want to dance around my apartment.
- Miley Cyrus - Girls Just Wanna Have Fun: Yeah she covered it, and yeah she tore it up. I never cared much for the Cyndi version (Yes, I’m gay, and yes I did just say that) but she works this out from start to finish and it always leaves me wanting more. Extended mix anyone?!
- Kylie - All I See (Marks! Latin House Radio Edit): One of those songs where I loath the original but Mark Picchiotti tore this mix of it up. Trust me, it’s hot!
- Lindsay Lohan - Bossy: This one was for sure a grower and not a shower. I love it a little more every time I listen to it, and the song is extra fun if you change the words “bossy” to “naughty” then the song is just really dirty.
- Ryan Cabrera - Say: Poor guy, I wanted so bad to love him running his shit independent but this was the only good track from the album. But man he sure is pretty, even with that dirrty mustashe. So he can’t do too much wrong in my eyes.
- Jon McLaughlin - Beating My Heart: I’ve talked about this one previously as well. This muh boy and he does me all sorts of right with this song. In the middle eight when he breaks it down and goes falsetto to sing “You’re making everything inside come ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLIVE”. It’s about 1.2 seconds after that, that I have to find a new pair of underwear. The production on this song is phenominal as well.
- Ashlee Simpson - Little Miss Obsessive: Hands down best song on the album, I don’t care what anyone else says.
- The B-52’s - Pump: I rediscovered this gem from their last album recently. It’s just catchy and fun once you get past the obnoxious talky/singy parts at the beginning. I know it’s sort of their signature but it doesn’t do anything for the song.
- Diplo - Shhake It up (Twist and Shout Remix): I’ll probably have to post this here soon. It’s so much fun, perfect music for a club scene in a movie. It’s a rework of the classic, and honestly I’m not sure if it’s the original vocals or not. It sounds like it, but regardless it’s a must have for anyone’s collection.

I agree about Lindsay’s song… it gets better with each listen!
nice mix. Love the Kylie #.
I have never been into “Little Miss Obsessive.” I hate the “Whoa-oh”’s! Give me some “Hot Stuff” any day!
