Do you remember ‘Everything but the Girl’ ? ‘Step off that train, walking down your street again. Past your door. You don’t live there anymore.’ Of course, they became known for more, but it’s most memorable for me. Tracy has been in hiding, so to speak, for two decades. This is her first solo LP release since going MIA. I have to say, it’s a masterpiece, screaming 80s new wave, smooth folk, and juicy electro-soul.
The mix between slow paced songs and those that have sexy beats is well thought out and boasts perfection. Her voice is smooth like a vodka martini, with three olives, in a smokey lounge bar.

This afternoon I listend to the entire album, front to back, lounging in the shade in my backyard. Pure bliss. It provides an addictive groove that is masterfully controlled by ‘Tracey’s’ vocals — which are like melting chocolate.
Some highlights for me, are obviously the more ‘electro’ tracks … which include, ‘It’s all True’ … masterfully bringing the new wave sound to the forefront. ‘Grand Canyon’ … starts off slow and then builds to tingle all your parts and satisfy your cravings. I would really dig a great remix of this song, perhaps by the ‘Midnight Juggernauts’. I’ll patiently wait until some Dj’s get their ears full of this album. Finally, ‘Raise the Roof’ … mooth and soulful. It almost has a ‘Simply Red’ appeal. ‘Out of the Woods’ plays elegantly. Full force front to back. Usually I’m a HUGE track skipper, but it’s completely unnecessary here.
I’ll leave you with the track ‘It’s all True’ …

I love this record. It made my top 31 of 2007! I highly suggest you get the Walking Wounded and Temperamental CDs, since you indicated that Tracey had disappeared for “two decades”. Both records are amazing.

I have to agree completely. This album is amazing. I feel like it won’t age at all. You’ll be able to pull it out in 5 or 10 years and love it just as much.
