It had this Brokeback Mountain, lovers in a dangerous time mood to it and then it just ditched before actually giving the viewers what was promised through the storylne. Boring. Maybe it needs to grow on me. I just would have liked it had it been a bit more varied. I feel like it's split in half, the first half is all the summery/shimmery songs and the second half is this darker part. This is the first album of hers I've listened to all the way through and it probably is her best effort yet. It's weird because I think of 'Aphrodite' as an album and those lyrics are kinda cheese as well, but they don't feel so over-the-head in the way that Katy delivers her lyrics. It's funny that you comment on "ET" being weird and different... try sing Tatu's "All The Things She Said" to the chorus.. they are nearly the same. Not so much the arrangement but her delivery is really what is similar. Some of the lyrics are quite childish, but hey it's pop. Doesn't always have to be so serious.
