This past Wednesday, I found myself in a Target store with the intent and purpose of picking up Christina Aguilera’s first greatest hits compilation, Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits. I was offered up two choices: the single disc edition, or the deluxe edition with a bonus DVD of a handful of Xtina’s greatest videos. Clearly, the deluxe edition was the winner.

That night my best friend and I partook in the videos, and what a treat it was! From “Genie In A Bottle” (and that weird blue-fringe shirt)…

This is officially the cheesiest pop song in all of pop song history. Feel free to leave comments with contenders, but honestly you can't cut this cheese with a knife. In just three minutes they manage to pack it all in, and if the title doesn't just scream "POP!" I don't know what does. If you are ever feeling a little blue, just put this song on and you are guaranteed to crack a smile even if it's at the sheer insanity of it's poptasticness.

Popularized in England during the 60's and early 70's, this branch of soul music has been sampled and lauded by everyone from Soft Cell to Fatboy Slim, and more recently, Moloko and Duffy.

If you were going to gauge the brilliance of the Sugababes’ sixth studio album from the title and lead single, “Girls,” you would expect all sorts of insane, fun antics. In fact, the ‘babes have been known to forge their own path in Pop music, never afraid to get their hands (or knees) dirty with their funky sounds. Trouble is the last album strayed the furthest from their unique sound and more into mainstream Pop music. Now this isn’t to say that it was a let down, but a question of whether or not the ‘babes had lost the edge that fans have come to love? Now with that being said, we believe that we have definitely been misled to believe in one sort of album, but after the disappointment dissolves, we are left with an album that is full of surprises.

(The 14th of NOV.2008). I couldn’t BE more thrilled.

You probably mosly know Miami Horror♥ from some pretty smashingly hot and superfresh retro inspired remixies … filled with synth, killerhooks and dancyness!

He’s remixed bands like Pnau, The Presets, Faker, Datarock, Party and Midnight Juggernauts. In the space of a year, he’s turned megastar on the interwebs and blogosphere.…

I was making Shan listen to horrible sad songs the other day at his apartment and then I started thinking about great pop songs unplugged.

Perhaps songs with a kick ass beat that were completely re-interpreted in an unplugged fashion that would give them a little different shimmer than we're used to. These 10 are completely not all-encompassing; but ones you should probably check out none-the-less.

I originally discovered this band under the name “The Modern” and they were getting some radio play over in Europe I believe and then for some reason they decided to change their name to “Matinee Club” and then they kinda just seemed to fall off the radar, or at least my radar anyways. I think it was a bad career move personally, and I just read up on their Wikipedia that they recently decided to go back to…

I recently had a few dates with a guy who pretty much loved all types of music but absolutely despised Macy Gray. I enjoyed giving him a hard time by telling him I was going to make him a “Best of Macy” mix cd (In actuality I made myself one a few years back!). I couldn’t fault him because I have an equal distaste for Mariah Carey. Yes, I did just say that, it’s out there and I’m willing to take the hate mail. Bring it.

But Mariah is not why…

Despite his enthusiasm, and my own previous love for Ms. Duff, I have to say, that something just wasn't sitting right with me and this song. See, a not-so-well known British artist by the name of Jamelia released a VERY similar record just a couple of years ago, and frankly I think that she used the sample better, and produced a better single as a result.
