Jiingo-creator and one of my closest friends, Shan and I headed north for an overnight trip of Madge-tastic proportions. We were seeing the Lady for the second time together (our first was the Drowned World Tour when we were eighteen and fresh out of high school), but it was my fourth time witnessing her awesomeness in the flesh.
She was only an hour late this evening, a step-up from the extra hour-and-a-half I waited during the Confessions Tour. Her intro to the stage was a major letdown compared to how she debuted on… Read more »

Madonna, as an entertainer, is not underrated. However, over the course of her twenty-five year career, many songs get left behind in the mainstream due to the wacky things she does or says. With Jiingo creator Shan and I trekking north to see Her Madgesty tomorrow, I’ve compiled a list of the most, in my opinion, underrated Madonna songs. For all the hardcore Madge-Addicts, check it out and share your own choices. For subtle fans, take a look and find some lost treasures!

I can never get enough of the hot breakdowns from the Pharrell Williams’ produced tracks on Madonna’s latest album, Hard Candy.
“Candy Shop” - “Stick-stick-stick-sticky and sweet/My sugar is RAW/Sticky and Sweet/My sugar is RAW/DANCE!” The beat won’t quit, and even detractors of this old lady’s pussy song give props to that dirty breakdown.
“She’s Not Me” - I just want to give props to all the hand clapping and whistle-toots!
“Incredible” - “It’s time to get your hands up/It’s time to getcha body movin’/It’s time to getcha hands up/it’s time to… Read more »

I often have my iPod on shuffle, regardless of where I may be at that moment. Whether it be in the shower, chilling in my bedroom, driving, generally being sexy, I never know what song may become part of the soundtrack to my life.
Shuffle is great, and I regularly find myself rediscovering things I had only gently paid attention to in years past. Here I’d like to recommend some nice finds, refound during the shuffle that is my life.
Princess Superstar - Meet You Halfway (Keep It On The Alright)
from the… Read more »

What was with Madonna’s Confessions era? I was just sitting here listening to a Madge playlist I made in honour of her birthday, and “Sorry” came on. I love “Sorry,” but I got to thinking about the shitty music video that came with it.

Last week Madonna released her latest maxi-single, Give It 2 Me. With eight remixes to choose from, there was bound to be a few that I took a shining to, and luckily, I was right!
I’m having a hard time deciding whether I prefer Eddie Amador’s House Lovers Mix or Tong & Spoon’s Wonderland Mix. I had read that the House Lovers mix was the only to incorporate my favorite part of the song - the “Get stupid” breakdown, but imagine my delight when I heard our Lady telling me to… Read more »

“Cyberagga”
B-Side to the “Music” single.
This song is a brilliant electronic treat, and is Madge’s second to be sung in Sanskrit (following “Shanti/Ashtangi” from the Ray of Light album). Co-produced by the fabulous Talvin Singh, this song actually translates into an ode to eternal goodness for all mankind:
May all be well with mankind
May the leaders of the earth in every way
Protect the earth by keeping to the right path
May there always be goodness
For those who know the earth to be sacred
May all the world be happy
Whatever I do… Read more »

If you can afford it, summer is a great time cruising around with your friends with the windows down, sun roof up (if you happen to be so lucky), and listening to fun, easygoing music. This is where I come in. Below are ten of my absolute favorite summer songs, good for all your summer activities.
Janet Jackson “And On And On”
Very possibly my favorite summertime jam. I have loved this song for about fifteen years now, and it still resonates that feel-good summer vibe every time I hear it. Originally… Read more »

Here it is, our list of all time favorite albums - these are the ones that we can listen to on repeat again and again and never get tired of.
Shan
Anastacia - Anastacia
Although I hate that she self titled this album it is definitely on the top of my favorite albums of all time list. I’ve had this cd in my car cd player since the first day I heard it and haven’t taken it out since. Any time I forget to bring my iPod along it’s the first cd in… Read more »
