Keeps Gettin’ Better

November 17th, 2008 | Posted by Ricky

This past Wednesday, I found myself in a Target store with the intent and purpose of picking up Christina Aguilera’s first greatest hits compilation, Keeps Gettin’ Better: A Decade of Hits. I was offered up two choices: the single disc edition, or the deluxe edition with a bonus DVD of a handful of Xtina’s greatest videos. Clearly, the deluxe edition was the winner.

That night my best friend and I partook in the videos, and what a treat it was! From “Genie In A Bottle” (and that weird blue-fringe shirt)… Read more »

Sugababes – Catfights and Spotlights

November 13th, 2008 | Posted by Ryan and Simon

If you were going to gauge the brilliance of the Sugababes’ sixth studio album from the title and lead single, “Girls,” you would expect all sorts of insane, fun antics. In fact, the ‘babes have been known to forge their own path in Pop music, never afraid to get their hands (or knees) dirty with their funky sounds. Trouble is the last album strayed the furthest from their unique sound and more into mainstream Pop music. Now this isn’t to say that it was a let down, but a question of whether or not the ‘babes had lost the edge that fans have come to love? Now with that being said, we believe that we have definitely been misled to believe in one sort of album, but after the disappointment dissolves, we are left with an album that is full of surprises. Miami Horror, released!!!

November 13th, 2008 | Posted by Christopher

I never thought I’d see the day — and I’m sure neither did he, where 22 year old DJ/Producer from Melbourne would see his own EP come to fruition.  It is indeed being released TOMORROW! (The 14th of NOV.2008).  I couldn’t BE more thrilled.

You probably mosly know Miami Horror♥ from some pretty smashingly hot and superfresh retro inspired remixies … filled with synth, killerhooks and dancyness!

He’s remixed bands like Pnau, The Presets, Faker, Datarock, Party and Midnight Juggernauts. In the space of a year, he’s turned megastar on the interwebs and blogosphere.… Read more »

One of the PR companies we have been working with sent over this group (three girls) a couple of days ago and were eager to us to throw these girls a review. As long as we fall in love with the music we are more than happy to oblige! And these these three girls from Scandinavia are hot hot hot!

At first listen I thought they had a bit more of an M.I.A. meets Peaches sound, then the more I listened I realized they had more of a CSS meets The… Read more »

How do you like your Dannii?

November 3rd, 2008 | Posted by Justin

Well, Dannii returns to her chill-out sound again for what may be the umpteenth cover of Andrea True Connection’s 1976 disco classic, “More, More, More.”

Over the last few years, some of Dannii’s singles have been remixed as slow burns, thanks to Afterlife. My favorite being the said mix of “You Won’t Forget About Me,” which got all kinds of sexy as a samba track.

This recent effort is dubbed as the ‘Winter Chill Mix’ so I’m not sure if a regular mix will appear at some point or not. I will… Read more »

Christina Aguilera… Reincarnated

October 30th, 2008 | Posted by Shan

On our way back from seeing Janet Jackson in concert last month Ricky asked me if I had heard Christina’s new version of “Genie in a Bottle”. All he had was the live version on his iPod but he played it for me anyways and my ears were pleased. Since then I’ve been curious to hear the real thing. Today a 30 second clip of the studio version came online and I thought I’d share it with you guys. Thoughts? I love it! I’ve always been a fair-weather Christina fan… Read more »

She’s Got Me Like Nobody

October 28th, 2008 | Posted by Shan

Just a quick note that Lady Gaga’s album “The Fame” was released in the United States today although it’s already been out in Canada for quite some time now. We did a write up about it after it was released there because it’s so good we had to tell you about it right away. It will definitely be in my top “Albums of the year list”. Luckily she added two extra tracks to the American release for anyone who might have already gotten their Canadian copy. Those two tracks are “Paper… Read more »

Ladyhawke - Debut, reviewed.

October 21st, 2008 | Posted by Christopher

I’m feeling blue. I don’t usually do a bad review. Mostly because it leads to BORING reading. This album is NOT BAD! It’s just, lackadaisical. I want to squirt petro onto the fire, but I wouldn’t do that because I burnt myself as a child spraying hairspray and lighting a match. No, that’s not why I have bad spelling and grammar. I’m an artist, not a dictionary. McCoy would be jealous … except, he used Doctor … never mind, I digress. Read more »
