In the forum: Any Jon McLaughlin Fans?

One of the PR companies we have been working with sent over this group (three girls) a couple of days ago and were eager to us to throw these girls a review. As long as we fall in love with the music we are more than happy to oblige! And these these three girls from Scandinavia are hot hot hot!

At first listen I thought they had a bit more of an M.I.A. meets Peaches sound, then the more I listened I realized they had more of a CSS meets The… Read more »

How do you like your Dannii?

November 3rd, 2008 | Posted by Justin

Well, Dannii returns to her chill-out sound again for what may be the umpteenth cover of Andrea True Connection’s 1976 disco classic, “More, More, More.”

Over the last few years, some of Dannii’s singles have been remixed as slow burns, thanks to Afterlife. My favorite being the said mix of “You Won’t Forget About Me,” which got all kinds of sexy as a samba track.

This recent effort is dubbed as the ‘Winter Chill Mix’ so I’m not sure if a regular mix will appear at some point or not. I will… Read more »

Christina Aguilera… Reincarnated

October 30th, 2008 | Posted by Shan

On our way back from seeing Janet Jackson in concert last month Ricky asked me if I had heard Christina’s new version of “Genie in a Bottle”. All he had was the live version on his iPod but he played it for me anyways and my ears were pleased. Since then I’ve been curious to hear the real thing. Today a 30 second clip of the studio version came online and I thought I’d share it with you guys. Thoughts? I love it! I’ve always been a fair-weather Christina fan… Read more »

She’s Got Me Like Nobody

October 28th, 2008 | Posted by Shan

Just a quick note that Lady Gaga’s album “The Fame” was released in the United States today although it’s already been out in Canada for quite some time now. We did a write up about it after it was released there because it’s so good we had to tell you about it right away. It will definitely be in my top “Albums of the year list”. Luckily she added two extra tracks to the American release for anyone who might have already gotten their Canadian copy. Those two tracks are “Paper… Read more »

Beyonce is back…does anyone care?

October 16th, 2008 | Posted by Ryan

Joining my ever growing list of albums out by the end of the year is Beyonce. Now before I get into this, I must say, I am more annoyed by Beyonce’s music than I have been impressed. I was a big fan of Destiny’s Child since the whole “Say My Name” era, but around the time of “Bootylicious” Beyonce became her own planet. It was only natural to see her spread her wings and try to win us over on her own. And did she ever! “Crazy In Love” was that song that could drag even the grumpiest person onto the dance floor. There was a hook like none other, and thus, a star was born. Read more »

Y’all Betta Shut Up!

October 14th, 2008 | Posted by Duane

… and listen up!

Rarely, at least for me, does an artist live fully up to the hype that they receive; especially when they are so readily praised by almost everyone under the sun. I seem to be one of those people that often “doesn’t get it” while others are clearly seeing something that I do not; or perhaps I am just more skeptical to call someone the “next big thing” because I believe that title should be reserved for only those that truly are worthy of being amongst one of… Read more »

Jon McLaughlin - OK Now

October 7th, 2008 | Posted by Shan

Today my boy’s album came out! Jon McLaughlin of course! I had the rare pleasure of running to the store at lunch and hunting down a copy. I kind of figured that he wouldn’t get to be on the front display - and I was right. I dug through the M section and at first thought that they didn’t have any, which surprised me since he’s on a major label. After some more careful digging I found 2 copies buried behind that bomb of an album that Jesse McCartney just… Read more »

Changes are coming from Will Young

September 26th, 2008 | Posted by Duane

I have been a major fan of Will Young’s since his utterly brilliant last release, Keep On; a rare album, in that it doesn’t have one bad track on it. The combination of pop, soul, and jazz all wrapped up with a swoon-worthy voice is the hallmark of Will’s sound; one that he mixes effortlessly into well crafted, and carefully worded songs about love and loss. Will Young truly is a breath of fresh air for the pop scene, and he is about to release another potentially fantastic album.

If you… Read more »
