I came across this song this past week on one of my “must find new music” searches. Normally I don’t find much when I’m in one of these moods but I was pleasantly surprised to come across this “unknown” artist. A few years ago I was super excited to see that Toni Collette had formed a band and was releasing an album. She is definitely one of my favorite actresses. I think she won me over in “Sixth Sense” but she’s done a slew of great things since then including “Little Miss Sunshine”, which I love!

I discovered this song via Blip.fm. I don’t really follow N.E.R.D. so I checked Wikipedia and apparently this is their latest single but it didn’t do too well in the US. So perhaps some people have already heard this song, it was new to me. Hopefully new to you too.

This week’s Saturday song is a lost gem of Dannii Minogue’s. She is the less popular of the two Minogue sisters, however Dannii fans will be the first to let you know that Dannii was popular before Kylie. Dannii has a catalog of her own pop hits but I was really only a fan after the awesome “Neon Nights” which sadly has been her only full length album in quite a few years. Yeah I know she’s a total poser and is wearing far too much eye liner in the video. And this song is probably overplayed but I re-discovered it a few nights ago. It was one of those singles I passed up when it was out and then later realized it’s awesomeness. I tend to do that with ballads (like with Ashlee Simpson - Invisible). I’ve mentioned this song several times and made several threats towards Katy if she did not release this instant hit as a single. This song is so unbelievably catchy. I’m happy to report that this week I found out that she is in fact releasing it as the next single and shot the video this week which includes her in a wedding gown and a drag queen bridesmaid, I’m dying to see it! Enjoy this, it’s sure to be a hit!

I was originally going to post a Katy Perry track, but then I saw this was sitting on my desktop and I decided this needed to come first. This is easily the best non-released track off her last album “Dignity” which was a really great album and moved Hilary into a more serious less cheesy realm of pop music. I had the pleasure of catching the band Temposhark opening for Darren Hayes last year and have been a fan ever since. They were even nice enough to send me an advance copy of their debut album “The Invisible Line” before it was released where I found this amazing track featuring none other than the amazing Imogen Heap.

As promised in a previous entry, this week’s Saturday Song is Diplo’s take on the classic song “Shake It Up” by The Cars which came out in 1981 (yeah, I got that from Wiki). I’ve been informed that this is actually the Beatles, I’m really fans of neither so I can’t tell the two apart.
