Saturday Song: A-Teens - Can’t Stop The Pop!

November 15th, 2008 | Posted by Shan

This is officially the cheesiest pop song in all of pop song history. Feel free to leave comments with contenders, but honestly you can’t cut this cheese with a knife. In just three minutes they manage to pack it all in, and if the title doesn’t just scream “POP!” I don’t know what does. If you are ever feeling a little blue, just put this song on and you are guaranteed to crack a smile even if it’s at the sheer insanity of it’s poptasticness. Read more »

Hootie is that you?

October 27th, 2008 | Posted by Justin

You could have blown me over with a feather when I was tuning through the radio and heard that familiar voice that fronted Hootie and the Blowfish for years. Except, wait - this is a country station? What’s happening?

So a gal I work with told me that Darius ‘Hootie’ Rucker, did in fact have a country song and that it had been #1 on the Billboard Country charts. I was dumbfounded.

After Rucker had left the other Blowfish behind, he actually worked on an R&B tinged album for Hidden Beach Records… Read more »

October 3rd, 2008 | Posted by Ryan

For Round 2 of Pop Topics, I’ll be discussing the brilliant album that was due out this month, but instead got slammed back 6 MONTHS!  I know, somebody hates her (maybe it’s your GF).  Familiar faces from the UK are releasing albums before year end, and I wonder if the media will stir up another rivalry that will be had out in another Aerosmith cover.  I’ve got a new girl that you MUST hear and have I gone crazy and allowed Shiny Toy Guns to redeem themselves?  Plus, enjoy Alanis’… Read more »

September 3rd, 2008 | Posted by Ryan

I’ve noticed I’m compelled to write a lot lately about a large number of things.  The only problem with all of these things is that I do not have a lot to say about them.  So instead, I’m putting together a brief on pop music news that is relevant to you.  This is partially to test the waters to see if something like this is well received or if it is preferred to stick to more specific posts.    Here we go….

Pop Topics today includes a taste of what is coming… Read more »

Under the influence of waaat?

July 19th, 2008 | Posted by Ryan

I believe it is important for people to follow-up with important matter.   Matters of the heart, (how are you doing with that break-up?) matters at work, (how is that report coming?) matters of friendship, (how is the party planning for Dave’s birthday?), and matters of importance (how is the new Sophie album coming along?)  So today, I will talk about one of those, and obviously, I really want to know how that report is coming….

Well since you’re ahead of schedule with that report, I will treat you with news about… Read more »

Every great story…

June 25th, 2008 | Posted by Ryan

There are a few albums due out sometime this year that have me excited.

First, the only album on my list to have a confirmed release date and track listing is Infernal’s latest album, “Electric Cabaret” due out on August 11.  This album follows their incredibly brilliant “From Paris To Berlin” CD.  The first single from their new album is ‘Downtown Boys’ and takes a lot to get into, it’s definitely different from their previous recordings, but perhaps in a good way.  The album is set to have 14 tracks with… Read more »
